It all started with an engineering job that made me increasingly dissatisfied. But my love of cycling and my fascination for custom steel frame construction never let me go.
After a lot of back and forth, I quit my office job and decided to follow my passion. I attended a frame building course in Frankfurt and started working in a bicycle store as a career changer. I started welding the first frames together in my garage while I deepened my knowledge and skills about bicycles in the bike store. The idea for the Kobel Cycles brand slowly emerged.
Over a period of 2.5 years, I set up my own frame-building workshop in Freiburg and expanded my skills by building frames for friends. Through my work in the bike store, I realized that I wanted to build the most sustainable, durable bike frames possible, designed for the perfect purpose, all with a personal touch. So I decided to quit my job at the bike store to have more time to focus on frame building.
Kobel Cycles is the result of my passion and vision for individual and high-quality bicycle frames.
