bug - when a color is set, the button text is no longer visible

BikeCAD Pro How To Forum

unfortunately I can't attach a screen capture as this would explain the problem better

In the colors form there are dozens of items which can have their color customized.

When I change the color of an item from default, the button text eg. saddle or frame or spoke, turns to a shade of white which is so similar to the button color that its almost impossible to discern the text any longer.

I'm sure at one stage the button color changed to the customized color, but now they are all just a creamy color.

bug changing from maximized to restored window size in Windows

Andrew Heard

By Andrew Heard | 7:34 PM EST, Tue January 24, 2012
BikeCAD Pro How To Forum

to reproduce:

have a bikecadpro window about 1/2 the screen size
maximize the window
close BCP then reopen
the window is displayed maximized - correct
system menu > Restore - the window is still displayed close-to-maximized instead of 1/2 the screen size - bug - the incorrect window size was saved when the program exited

I've fixed this bug in my own C# program - if saving a maximized window you need to save the "RestoredSize" & "RestoredLocation" not the current "Size" & "Location" (C# properties not Java sorry).

Is it possible to change this angle? The Shoes form has a section on the right hand side - heel at highest and lowest, but its grayed out/ disabled.

curved downtube on 29er?

This is my first post and after a quick search I couldn't find how this is done. I saw someone's beach cruiser drawing so I'm sure it's possible but I see no options to add a 15 degree curve in the downtube to add long-travel suspension fork clearance (at least where I'm looking). It'd be great to have it spit out the correct miter angles so I don't have to file too much by hand!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Whit

Fork length "L" parameter...

Hmmm... not sure how people haven't noticed this, but it would seem the library forks (I'm personally referencing the "Fox-like" 29er forks), use the axle-to-crown (AC) length as the L length, which is incorrect since:

AC^2 = L^2 + R^2 (basic trig...)

So with a rake (R) in the range of 44mm to 51mm, that makes the "virtual" fork in BikeCAD ~3-4mm longer than it should be... which is enough to throw angles out by about 1/8 degree. Or if angles are matched, then linear dimensions then become out of whack. :)

Easy workaround is obviously:

L = (AC^2 - R^2)^0.5

BCAD designs getting mixed when working with several drawings

BikeCAD Pro How To Forum

Hi Brent

I have a few issues with BikeCAD Pro that I hope you can help me solve.

1. When working with the same type of frame, but in different sizes from different BCAD files, and going from one size to another by opening "recent BCAD file". Then BikeCAD mixes up the different drawings. So working on a 52 and saving it, then opening up a 56 saving that file and opening up the 52 again, then the 52 will have the headtube lenght from the 56. I guess I'm not supposed to leave BikeCAD Pro every time I want to open a new file, so what is the problem?

curved top tube plus toe overlap

BikeCAD Pro How To Forum

Hi Brent

Great product. New BikeCAD Pro user and have a few questions.

If I want to design a curved top tube, how should I understand the curve parameters in Tubing ? I'm trying to get the top tube to bend downwards.
Can the "bend" be curved by defining a radius for the top tube?

Is there anyway to get numbers/distance shown regarding toe overlap? Meaning the distance between foot/pedal and tire/mudguard.

thanks

Christian

'When I try to open the exe file in Windows 7 by right clicking I don't have the option to select "Run as administrator" in the drop down menu. Just selecting "Open" doesn't work. What should I do? Thanks for any help.

Tire clearance design at bottom bracket

Does BikeCAD Pro have enhanced features beyond what I see in the free online version that allows you to visualize and design for tire clearance at the bottom bracket, seat stay bridge, and perhaps fork crown?

Thanks,
Mike
