So this is my first post folks and it may be a stupid one but take it easy on me. I'm trying to use the free version on my mac. It tells me I need a plug in. I downloaded the java it requested but continues to tell me I need to update it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

I can only speculate. However, one thing to consider is that after downloading and installing Java, Java may be enabled on your operating system but not yet enabled on your browser. I would encourage you to enable Java in your browser. However, if for any reason you have trouble doing that you could consider trying a different browser. For example, if you've been trying on Safari, you could also try Chrome or Firefox.
