I put off responding to this because we've had a parallel discussion happening over email. However, for anyone who stumbles upon this post, here's some more info.
While BikeCAD Pro is simple to install on a PC, a Mac or on Linux, the free version requires that you jump through quite a few hoops before the program will run in your browser. These steps are described at bikecad.ca/java_1.8_security. It's not clear to me if you've read this or not.
Be aware that on a PC the free version will only run on IE, the 32 bit ESR version of Firefox or on Chrome with the IE tab extension enabled. If you have trouble with IE, it is worth trying the other options.
I'd be curious to know what additional information might be presented when you try loading the applet with the Java console turned on. There's info about showing the Java console at: java.com/en/download/help/javaconsole.xml. Although it used to be that the Java console would list all sorts of info as the applet was loading. Now it will not do that unless you increase the trace level. You can do that by clicking in the Java console and typing the number 5. Note that you can type any number between 0 and 5 to select the desired trace level. 5 will give you the most info.
I get the same thing. I've tried everything, even to go as far as installing Firefox Extended Release 32-bit (which still supports Java). It attempts to run the application but never loads.
I'd be curious to see a screen capture of your Java Exception Site list. Could you send me that by e-mail? Hopefully we can get you up and running soon.
Fixing BIkecap not working after Java 8 v1.8.0_161 update
After an automatic update of my working Java environment with build 1.8.0_161-b12, Bikecad stopped working and I faced the same blank screen as described here.
Although it appeared like all went fine, I noticed that:
1) the console was not showing
2) the Java icon was not showing up in the system tray
in spite of the fact that I had properly set up and verified many times over that my configuration of Java was correct.
I then reinstalled (turning Windows Defender off before the download and during install) and when I finished that, it worked fine.
Visiting the Java test page made the Console pop up again, the Java icon appeared in the tray, and when I launched Bikecad, it asked for permission to execute the plugin and loaded OK with lots of stuff showing in the console, as is normal.
I can now enjoy Bikecad again and I'm turning off automatic Java update.
I hope those having problems wusing Bikecad will be able to fix problems like I did.

I fixed everything by uninstalling Java, then reinstalling manually. I went to https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and selected "Windows Online"
I then reinstalled (turning Windows Defender off before the download and during install) and when I finished that, it worked fine.
